A Brief History of The Federation
The Federation was formed as a result of a meeting
held at the Dujon Restaurant, Peterborough, on
Saturday 9th December 1949, with Mr Anthony Walker (then Editor of
“Stamp Collecting”) in the chair,
And supported by delegates from
the Bedford, Boston, Huntingdonshire, Kings Lynn and Peterborough Societies.
Capt. F.H.Lewin, R.N. (Ret)
of Huntingdonshire was elected President, with Ian T. Hamilton of Peterborough
as Hon. Secretary and E.T. Channon of Huntingdonshire
Hon. Treasurer.
Early in 1951, Ian Hamilton produced the first
Bulletin for the Federation, an issue of 16 pages, and he carried on this work
until he left the district in 1954.
