Dear
«Courtesy_Title» «Last_Name»,
I am writing to you in connection with
the philatelic competitions to be held at the Federation's Annual Convention at
Haseley School, Milton Keynes on Saturday 25thApril
2009. The convention this year is
being hosted by the Milton Keynes Philatelic Society.
The normal inter-society and
individual competitions will be held this year, i.e. 9 sheet inter-society
competitions in respect of Stamps of One Country (Traditional), Postal History
and Thematic as well as the 16 sheet
individual competitions in respect of Aerophilately
and the Kings Lynn Jubilee Trophy which this year is for a Postal History
exhibit. The junior & youth
competitions are individual competitions, enabling each youth competitor to
submit up to two entries each. Those aged between under
14 should submit at least 4 and up to 9 sheets and those aged between 14 and 17
years should submit 9 sheets.
All entries must be notified to me in
advance of the competition. Entry form,
"Appendix A", must be completed in respect of each entry and be
forwarded to reach me at the address at the foot of this letter by Saturday
28th. March 2009.
Entries may be delivered to me
personally or sent to me by registered post, but unless these are received by
me on or before Saturday 11th.
April 2009, they must be handed in to me at the convention before
Only one entry per society can be accepted
in the inter-society classes and it is for the affiliated society to determine
how it will select it's entries for these
classes. The individual classes are for
individual members of societies affiliated to the Federation and each member
may enter up to two entries in each of the classes in the individual
competitions. The rules of the
competition are similar to last year but note the change in the number of
sheets in the individual competitions.
All entries should include an
introductory statement but it is for the competitor to decide the amount of the
first sheet that should be devoted to it.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that exhibits
that have reached a Silver Award standard or better at National or International
level are not eligible to enter the EM&EAPF competitions.
Each entry received will be judged
against a medal standard and whilst medals are not awarded a certificate will
be issued to each competitor showing the standard that their exhibit
reached.
Copies of judges marking sheets can be
made available to any competitor who supplies me with a self addressed
envelope. These copies will not be
available on the day but will be forwarded to the competitor shortly after the
Convention.
Societies and/or individual
competitors who hold trophies from last years competition are asked to return
the trophies to me in a clean condition by noon on the day of the Convention.
Would you please ensure that your society complies with this request
both in respect of the inter-society Trophies and in respect of the Individual
Trophies that any of your members may be holding.
According to my records trophies are held by the following societies or their members :-
|
Federation Large Shield |
Junior Shield |
Williams Rose Bowl |
|
Jack Simmons Trophy Kay Goodman Trophy |
Hinckley & District Stitt Dibden
Cup Kings |

I would like to take this opportunity
to remind competitors that entries will be returned after the close of the
convention and competitors may not remove their exhibits from the display
frames themselves excepting that they have been approved for that purpose by
the organiser prior to the removal process commencing.
Furthermore I would like to wish
all competitors every success with their exhibits this year.
